I think it would be great if we made a Linux/unix verson of DarkSpace. It would not be hard and would open the game to alot of people that hate MS.

I actually got into the loby once on SUSE 10 + Cedega(commerical version of wine). I couldn't see any text, but I could send it. Naturally an issue with not being able to run IE effectively on linux.
I know a fellow by the name T-1000 or something like that claimed to have it working and even wrote up a good guide, unfortuetly I don't think anyone else has been able to follow it and get in.

I am just wondering why darkspace is dependant on IE why is that and what would be involved in changeing that? I am all linix now and would be nice to be able to run DS on it.
"Omg almsot everyting works on unbunto/wine" hehe just cant get ie to work but if that was on ds would work.

We could move to Gecko, but it means we have to package the Gecko engine into GQCL, which means increasing the initial GCQL download to something approaching 30mb. I am not sure of the exact figures, though.

Yanked this out of the discussion in release forums. I am sure there is a bit more to it then just adding the gecko package. I currently run one box for windows XP and another for SUSE 10.3. All my windows box does is play DS, and Ventrillo.
